MR. VANCE'S NEWS TO USE THIS WEEK
OCTOBER 15, 2021
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is hard to believe that we are beginning the last week of the quarter, but we are, and the end of the first quarter is next Friday, October 22! The students and staff are working extremely hard to finish strong next week. Report cards will be emailed on Monday, November 1.
Yesterday, I got the chance to spend the day with the 7th graders at Camp Joy. The day was filled with team building, fun, fellowship and a ropes course experience. I was fortunate (or maybe not!), to spend the day suspended 30 feet above the ground helping on the ropes course. What I witnessed from our students and staff was nothing but remarkable. Students took turns either climbing a ladder or cargo net to begin the ropes course. While on the course they would navigate numerous obstacles to either get back to the ladder or up to a zip line. Each student who went on the course was supported and cheered on by their classmates, encouraging them all the way. If a student was struggling, others would come to their assistance and give them pointers on how to get from one place to another, or even a quick hug. One child challenged himself to do an activity again because he didn’t like the way he completed it the first time. The students set a goal for themselves, attempted it, and were supported by their classmates and staff. This is why I enjoy St. Ignatius. As a school, we are focused on the growth and development of the whole person-academic, spiritual, artistic, physical, and social emotional. This is just one of the many activities and programs here at St. I's that focuses on the whole child!
A group of peer leaders in grades 6-7-8 participated in their annual training for our Sources of Strength team. Forty five students work on presentations and activities throughout the year promoting ways to positively deal with three big emotions: Anger, Anxiety and Sadness. We are very proud of these young men and women who have committed to caring for themselves and fellow students. A big thank you to Mrs. Rowland, Mrs. Hartger, and Ms. Pacitti who are the advisors for this group.
A few people have been inquiring about Halloween at St. Ignatius. We will publish information about Halloween and the parade in next week’s Wire.
Our enrollment and re-enrollment period will begin on Monday, December 6, for the 2022-2023 school year. Enrollment will be prioritized to current families, and active St. Ignatius families as in previous school years.
I continue to lift you, our families, up in prayer every day. Please continue to pray for the staff, students, and benefactors of this school. It is a source of strength and support.
In Christ's Peace,
Kevin Vance
