MR. VANCE'S NEWS TO USE THIS WEEK
APRIL 23, 2021
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Some days it feels like winter, and some days it feels like spring. I guess this is the Ohio weather we have come to love and hate, but we are looking forward to the high seventies next week!
During this time of Covid 19, we started the school year with strict guidelines from the Ohio Department of Health and Hamilton County Health outlining what we could and could not do in schools. As the pandemic has continued and studies reviewed, these departments have issued new guidelines and rules. This past week, we worked with the health department to safely allow children to play at recess as a grade level instead of just homerooms. We have not seen any student infections for five weeks, and we know that being outside decreases the chances of becoming infected. Still, the only way we can allow students to interact in a large group is to continue being masked on the playground. The mandates from the Health Department continue to state the following:
Facial Coverings (Masks)
All individuals in the State of Ohio shall wear facial coverings at all times when:
A. In any indoor location that is not a residence;
B. Outdoors and unable to consistently maintain a distance of six feet or more from
individuals who are not members of their family/household; or
C. Waiting for, riding, driving, or operating public transportation, a taxi, car service, or a
ride-sharing vehicle.
We will continue to follow the mandates for a mask but allow the students to play on the playground with students in other homerooms. Please know that if we begin to see an increased number of infections, this activity could be rolled back to only playing with students in each homeroom. Plans are being completed, and we should be able to implement this on Monday. If you would like for your child to stay 6 feet from other students on the playground, please inform your child’s homeroom teacher, and we will do our best to honor that request.
We continue working on plans so that students and staff can experience some fun end-of-the-year events like Olympic Day and iWalk, and we will share them with you when they are finalized.
We received a very kind and appreciative letter from the Pregnancy Center West. As you know, during Lent we participated in the Baby Bottle Campaign, and through the hard work of the students and generosity of their parents, a donation was made to The Center in the amount of $7,623.47. What a blessing this community continues to be for this pro life ministry!
Congratulations to our seventh graders who were fully initiated into the Church this past week when they received the Sacrament of Confirmation. We continue to keep them and our second graders in our prayers. Our second-grade students will begin receiving their First Communion this weekend. We are very proud of them and happy for their families.
These are unprecedented times, but we are resilient.
These are challenging times, but we are hopeful.
These are stressful times, but we place our trust in Christ to carry us through.
Please continue to keep all St. Ignatius students, staff, and families
in your thoughts and prayers.
In Christ's Peace,
Kevin Vance
Principal
