MR. VANCE'S NEWS TO USE THIS WEEK
MAY 21, 2021
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We begin the Wire this week in recognition for the Class of 2021. We are very proud of these hardworking and resilient students, everything they have accomplished in the classroom, and the service they have shown to each other and the community! This evening, they will celebrate their graduation from St. Ignatius School with their peers and parents. Go and set the world on fire Class of 2021!!
As part of the 8th grade spirit and celebrations week, they undertook two service projects for Shelterhouse. Each student made three packed lunches for the homeless and poor living at Shelterhouse or to the people they minister to on the streets. In addition, a cereal and laundry detergent drive was launched. We are happy to announce that 350 packed lunches along with two vans full of laundry detergent and cereal were delivered to Shelterhouse. Thanks for your support of this ministry. A special thank you to Mrs. Sewell and Mrs. Burman who helped to transport and deliver these gifts.
Our 8th graders also put on a remarkable carnival for our pre-k to 5th grade students. Under the leadership of Mrs. Jodi Czanik, this year’s carnival had some modifications so we could do it safely in the era of Covid. We moved the carnival outside and the reviews were excellent! It was fun to watch the children outside, laughing, playing the games, and seeing the 8th graders as leaders. Most of all, the joy and laughter that was being expressed really uplifted everyone! Thank you Mrs. Czanik, Mrs. Conneighton, and all of our 8th grade students.
Some of you may have heard at the end of clean up for our successful carnival, Mrs. Conneighton, who is one of our grade 7 and 8 language arts teachers, went into labor. I am happy to announce that Mrs. Conneighton and baby are well. Baby girl, Collins Mae Conneighton, was born on Thursday, May 20th at 2:51am. Please keep this new family in your thoughts and prayers.
Thanks to parents and students for the donations to the new "Sieve Shelves" area in the library. In celebration of her 34 years of service to this school and parish, an area in the library has been dedicated to Mrs. Laura Sieve. She passionately promoted the importance of reading literacy in her years of teaching and in Administration. This special area of the library is decorated with the tree of knowledge and the leaves were made by each child using their fingerprints. Thank you to our families who donated over 300 books in Mrs. Sieve’s honor. What a beautiful way to memorialize her impact in the lives of students, families and staff.
