MR. VANCE'S NEWS TO USE THIS WEEK
AUGUST 27, 2021
Dear Parents and Guardians,
On Wednesday, after many months of planning, the 2021-2022 school year started, with 1,154 students registered and attending classes at St. Ignatius. One hundred fifty adults come to this building every day to care for and support your children as they discover their God given talents and gifts. We begin and end our day in prayer thanking the Great Teacher, Jesus, who is the reason for our school. During this year, we will also take time to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of this school. Most of all, we are grateful.
Each year, I take time to identify a book that the school will use as a focus. This year we are using the book, Be You! The author, Peter Reynolds, reminds the readers that they are unique and special. Reynolds reminds readers to, "be your own work of art;To be patient, persistent, and true. Because there is one, and only one, YOU.” This book easily reinforces our Theology of the Body program where we teach children that they are unique, loved and valued because they are created in God’s image. We have also expressed this core belief with messages for students and adults near all the exits of the building, so as people leave St. I's, they are reminded that they are loved and valued. For more information on the Theology of the Body program and our virtues program, please see the flyer in this edition of the Wire.
We would like to offer our sincere gratitude to the parishioners of St. Ignatius. Through their continued stewardship and generosity, each child receives approximately $350 in financial support. School families who continue with weekly Mass attendance, volunteering at school and/or parish, and making a financial contribution will receive this parish grant. St. Ignatius School continues to be a remarkable school providing for a rigorous education immersed in prayer, worship and service to Jesus Christ. This exemplary education is due in part to the support of all members of this parish, and on behalf of all the students, students, and parents, I say thank you.
May this upcoming week be filled with much joy, happiness, and prayer.
In Christ's Peace,
Kevin Vance
Principal
IMPORTANT REMINDERS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
FORMS, FORMS, FORMS!
Please take time this weekend to complete the electronic forms that were sent to you last week. If you are having difficulty locating and completing them, please call the office at 389-3242, and we will be happy to help you.
CAR RIDERS AND DROP OFF TIMES IN THE MORNING
Kindergarten through 8th grade
The school will open at 8:15am for car riders in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. As students enter the building, they should report directly to their homeroom. We cannot accept any students, other than morning care students, prior to 8:15am.
**Please remember to use the crosswalk (near the parish office) when needing to cross through the drop-off line. Please do not walk through the car line, or allow your children to walk through the cars.
PreSchool
PreSchool children may start arriving at 8:30am for the morning program, and 12:35pm for the afternoon program.
CAR RIDERS AND PICK UP AT THE END OF THE DAY
Dismissal at the end of the day will begin at 3:30pm. Car riders will be dismissed in groups according to their last name. We ask that parents/guardians park in a marked space, and walk over to the front of school and pick up your child from the sidewalk. This is a safety concern and issue that needs all of our attention so that no one gets injured. Parents can come to the main door of school or to the cafeteria door to pick up their children. We will not permit children to run through the parking lots to parents parked all over campus this year.
