Dear Parents and Guardians,

During September, as a part of our Virtues in Practice program, students and staff will take time to better understand the Virtue of Faith. Faith is defined as “believing in God and all He has revealed.”  Students will be introduced to one of three saints who serve as role models for this Virtue, including St. Martha, St. Jerome, and St. Augustine. Thank you to Mrs. Geckle and Mrs. Bender who work hard to integrate this program into our school culture with our Theology of the Body program.

I want to take a moment and say thank you for everything our families are doing to minimize the risk of getting a covid infection. Currently, we have two students who are positive. Due to students masking, getting vaccinated, and families minimizing exposures, our community is currently healthy. Please continue to look out for each other and do your part. It takes all of us to keep our students and staff in good health so that we minimize days out of school.

St. Ignatius uses a program called Renaissance for a variety of activities, including benchmark assessments and progress monitoring. Benchmark assessments are taken 3 times per year in both reading and math. Students in grades 2-8 take the Star Reader and Star Math tests. Students in kindergarten take the Star Early Literacy test, which measures foundational skills in reading and math. The Star Early Literacy test is also used at the beginning of first grade. Later in the year most first graders transition to the Star Reading test.

In past years, we have emailed or printed test results to parents. This year, we are asking parents to sign in to the Renaissance Home Connect portal where you can see your child's scores and sign up for email notifications to receive scores when your child takes a test. Home Connect also lets you see your child's Accelerated Reader library and quiz scores. Watch for a letter from your child's teachers for login information. The username and password is the same as what your child uses for the Star test or AR at school; so you can also check their password keeper.
Parents who already access Home Connect do not need to sign up again, but it is suggested that you check that your account has an email listed to allow score notifications to be sent to you.
