MR. VANCE'S NEWS TO USE THIS WEEK
OCTOBER 8, 2021
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It seems fall is upon us, the leaves are starting to drop and the gray weather is here, but there continues to be lots of sunshine and happiness in our classrooms and halls. The students and staff are engaged in hands-on learning, lecture, and all types of projects. It is hard to believe, but the end of the quarter will be here in two weeks!
Last week, the priests and principals of the Archdiocese were shown the proposed Parish Families as constructed through the Beacons of Light initiative. The Beacons of Light initiative is the Archdiocese’s program to move from over 200 parishes to approximately 60 "Parish Families". In the proposal, you may have seen that St. Ignatius Parish will combine with St. Bernard to create a new "parish family" beginning on July 1, 2022. You can access a lot of information on this program at
https://catholicaoc.org/beacons-of-light/learn-more. Some of you have started to ask what impact the merger of parishes will have on the school, and I want to answer that
currently there is no plan for any changes in the 2022-2023 school year. Each parish family (St. Ignatius and St. Bernard) will create a process for evaluating ministries, Mass schedules, schools, and buildings possibly next year. Once we know a timeline for this evaluation process, it will be shared with you.
Our enrollment and re-enrollment period will begin on Monday, December 6, for the 2022-2023 school year. Enrollment will be prioritized to current families, and active St. Ignatius families as in previous school years.
At this year’s festival, TruPartner Credit Union partnered with St. Ignatius Parish as the Presenting Sponsor. In addition to this sponsorship, TruPartner wanted to do something to highlight the good deeds our students do for each other, staff, and/or community. We are honored to work with them so that we can acknowledge these good deeds at St. Ignatius School. Each day during morning announcements, the Good News Call of the Day is announced, which is an acknowledgement of the many positive actions happening at school. Now, with TruPartner, we are choosing one of these students to be the Student of the Month. This student will receive a small gift from TruPartner Credit Union and a $100 credit towards their tuition. We are grateful for TruPartner Credit Union as they support the good deeds of our students.
A big thank you to Michelle Korte, Becky Stricker, Katie Leesman, and all the library volunteers. The library opened this week because of their hard work and commitment. Students cheered when they found out they were going to visit the library this year. We know it is a great thing when kids are excited about reading.
I continue to lift you, our families, up in prayer every day. Please continue to pray for the staff, students, and benefactors of this school. It is a source of strength and support.
In Christ's Peace,
Kevin Vance

STUDENT OF THE MONTH, VIOLET M.
September’s Student of the Month goes to sixth grader Violet M., who is a 6th grader in Mrs. Youngquist’s homeroom. She was nominated by Mr. Meyer for her leadership in class. She and another student volunteered and reverently lead the class in the praying of the Rosary. Violet is also a member of the Sources of Strength team at St. I's. Congratulations Violet for being a leader in and out of the classroom.
