MR. VANCE'S NEWS FOR THE WEEK
FEBRUARY 25, 2022
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we wind down the Month of February, we are looking forward to Spring and warmer weather. Our dedicated students and staff continue to learn new skills and practice previous ones for mastery. It is exciting to witness the growth of our students.
Lent begins next week on Ash Wednesday, March 2. During this season of the Church, we focus on prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Students and staff will attend Mass on Wednesday receiving ashes and the Eucharist. As you try to identify ways to make this a meaningful Lent for you or your family, here are some ideas from Simply Catholic.
**Slow Down. Set aside 10 minutes a day for silent prayer or meditation. It will revitalize your body and your spirit.
**Read a good book. You could choose the life of a saint, a spiritual how-to, an inspirational book or one of the Pope’s new books.
**Be kind. Go out of your way to do something nice for someone every day.
**Get involved. Attend a Lenten lecture or spiritual program.
**Volunteer at your parish. Whether it’s the parish fish fry, cleaning the church or helping with a food drive, it will give you a chance to help others.
**Reach out. Invite an inactive Catholic to come with you to receive ashes on Ash Wednesday, the Stations of the Cross, Confession or Mass.
**Tune out. Turn off the electronics and spend quality time talking with family members or friends.
**Clean out closets. Donate gently used items to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
**Donate. Pick a Catholic mission and decide how you can help by sending money, clothing or supplies.
I continue to lift you and all St. Ignatius families in prayer every day. Please continue to pray for the staff, students, and benefactors of this school. It is a source of strength and support. Also, please offer a special prayer for those students preparing for First Communion and Confirmation. May you and your family feel Jesus’ presence every day.
In Christ’s Peace,
Kevin Vance
