Mr. VANCE'S NEWS TO USE THIS WEEK
NOVEMBER 10, 2022
Dear Parents and Guardians,
During the month of November, we are focusing on the Virtue of Humility in our Virtues Education Program. Our students and staff are taking time to better understand this Virtue which we define as "accepting your limitations and God-given talents". Some of the holy people we will be introduced to include St. John the Baptist, St. Pio, and St. Therese of Lisieux.
This week we celebrated National Vocation Awareness Week. Each morning a student shared a reflection or information about vocations on the morning announcements, and concluded our day by praying the Vocation Prayer by Archbishop Schnur. Today, Mother Seraphina of the Daughters of Saint Francis did a presentation for our students in grades 2-8. She shared that as a religious Sister, she has taken vows of poverty, chastity, obedience and works to promote the dignity of the human person. She answered many question from our inquiring students, and led them in prayer. It was a very meaningful experience for our students!
A huge thank you to everyone who donated gently used toys for St. Leo's. On Wednesday, November 16, we will be collecting NEW toys which will be sent down to McCreary County, Kentucky. Please have your child drop them off in the cafeteria. Our November Spirit Day on Friday, November 18 will also benefit residents of McCreary County. Again, much thank you so much for your gracious giving!
Finally, I ask for your prayers for the family of two alumni of St Ignatius School. Ian (Class of 2020) and Ellie King (Class of 2016) lost their father this past week in a horrible act of violence at their home. In this community, we have always taken time out of our busy days and prayed for those who are suffering, because we know that prayers are a source of strength, support and consolation during difficult times. Please remember these former students and their families in your prayers.
Please join me in praying that this school year is filled with wonder and awe for our students. I also pray for the happiness and success of all our students, families, and staff.
In Christ’s Peace,
Kevin Vance
Principal
