Dear Parents and Guardians,
What a great week it has been again at St. Ignatius! The whole school celebrated Right to Read week with special activities, our 7th and 8th grade Academic teams competed in the Academic Bowls, and several of our 8th grade students were honored at the Outstanding Young Citizens dinner in Cheviot.
During the week, each day started with a reading from a remarkable book led by Mr. Foley. Miss Alice, from the Hamilton County Library, visited students in grades K-5 and shared some fun books for them to read, and yesterday we dressed up like our favorite characters from a book. What a fun time to highlight the importance of reading. One of the greatest gifts a parent can give to their children that leads to success in school and life is to have them read….read…read!
We are so happy for our second graders who will be receiving the Sacrament of First Communion this weekend. The students have worked very hard, prayed with and for each other, and their families have supported them through the entire process. We celebrate with them and their families during this special time.
Please join me in praying that this school year continues to be filled with wonder and awe for our students. May all of our students, parents, staff, alumni, and friends feel God’s loving presence now and always.

DROP OFF AND PICK UP SAFETY
I am asking everyone to please be mindful of the procedures in place for drop off and pick up. Just this week, there have been two different incidents of cars in our lot not following protocol and creating very dangerous situations for other drivers and our students. I know we all lead busy lives and we have places to go, but that does not justify putting our kids in danger. Please be patient, wait your turn in line, park in the proper parking spots, and be mindful of students and adults walking to their cars in the lot. Everyone's cooperation is needed and greatly appreciated.

EIGHTH GRADE CARNIVAL

The eighth grade Carnival will be held outside the gym, along the Boomer Road side of school on Thursday, May 18, with a rain date of Friday, May 19. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14, 5:30pm
The 2nd annual Iggy 5k will be held on Saturday, October 14, at 5:30pm at St. Ignatius. The event consists of the 5k, the Kids Dash and an after party.
Last year's event saw approximately 300 participants, volunteers and spectators. The 5k welcomed competitive runners, walkers and all of those in between! Children and families raved about the Kids Dash with a start and finish line just for them, medals for each participant, and other fun surprises. Afterward, the community gathered for fellowship, bonfires, medal ceremony, food and fun.
The Iggy 5k is an opportunity for current families and parishioners to connect, and for past parishioners and school alumni to reunite with the St. Ignatius community. May is the month when we honor Mary, our Blessed Mother. Once again, Parish Health will be launching Miles for Mary, only this year, the challenge will be to complete 30 miles over the course of the entire month of May. Participants will not be required to complete a mile each day, but may double or triple up and take days off in between, ultimately reaching 30 miles by May 31. The goal is to honor Mary through our miles with prayer and reflection. Praying the Rosary (or a decade…), a Hail Mary, the Memorare or listening to beautiful music about Mary while doing our miles are all great ways to do this. The cost is $10 and proceeds will be a split-the-pot between the winner (drawn randomly out of all who successfully complete all 30 miles) and the parish. Need not be a parishioner to join (invite your friends and family!). Please contact me at krewwer@sainti.org or (513) 661-6565 ext. 2742 to sign up. Last year’s lucky winner walked away with winnings of over $600! If you would like to pay via Venmo (@Kate-Rewwer), please use Miles for Mary as the reason for payment. EUCHARISTIC MINISTER TRAINING
Please consider being an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at St. Ignatius. A training session will be offered Tuesday, May 16, at 6:00pm and Saturday, May 20, at 10:00am in church. TOTUS TUUS 2023
This summer St. Ignatius will be hosting for the second time Totus Tuus, an interactive catechetical summer camp for students 1st through 12th grade. Young missionaries will be coming in to teach our youth about the faith and foster in them a new love of Catholicism. This will be a fun filled week with fellowship, learning, and above all a deep reliance on the sacraments. Our youth will have the opportunity to experience daily mass along with confession and adoration experiences!
**1st through 6th graders will meet during the day from 9am to 2:30pm Monday June 12th to Friday June 16.
**7th through 12th graders will meet in the evenings from 7pm-9pm in the Youth Room beginning Sunday June 11 to Thursday July 15.

2023 VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Join us on a Holy Land adventure to learn what life was like in Biblical times for Daniel and his friends, and explore how God is always with us!
**VBS camp is for children ages 4-10 (rising preschool-4th grade).
**Preschool children must have previous school experience to participate, and will have an age appropriate version of the program provided.
**Children in Kindergarten through 4th grade will be placed in mixed age level groups, named after the 12 tribes of Israel. Each tribe will be led by older student volunteers. **Children will enjoy large group celebrations with music, as well as tribe time together as they plan their tribe’s rotation through stations of games, crafts and snacks in the Marketplace, and Bible story time
