MR. VANCE'S NEWS TO USE
MAY 19, 2023
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we enter the last two weeks of the 2022-2023 school year, I would like to start this week's edition of the Wildcat Wire with a BIG THANK YOU to Jodi Czanik and her band of volunteers who worked tirelessly for months in planning and putting together a great carnival yesterday. The weather was fantastic, the 8th graders worked diligently, and we loved all the smiles witnessed on our student's faces as they won some fun prizes. The face painting booth employed numerous parents and student artists, and our balloon hats were a hit. It was great to see the many parents and grandparents celebrating with us!
Our 8th graders are enjoying their field day today, and will conclude their time here at St. Ignatius with a retreat at the Holy Spirit Center on Monday. We are very proud of these students and their many accomplishments ($3.4 million in scholarships) and their
leadership in school this year. We celebrate some of these remarkable accomplishments on Tuesday at their Awards Ceremony and Boat Trip on Tuesday. Finally, the Graduation ceremony is on Wednesday evening, here at St. Ignatius.
Today, we will be recognizing three exemplary staff members who are retiring this year. Mrs. Deb Berling, Middle School Language Arts, has been at St. I for over 30 years. She has served as an aide, substitute teacher, reading tutor, and our writing lab teacher. Mrs. Berling shared an insight from her time here, “Always be willing to make changes. Growth will happen.”
Mrs. Deb Colina, grade 1, has been a teacher in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati for 35 years, with 24 of them here at St. Ignatius. She has educated and formed the hearts of over 800 students in her time as an educator. From Mrs. Colina, “I feel beyond blessed to have been able to teach many students about the love of Jesus, and to work with AMAZING people all of these years.”
Mrs. Diane Menzer, grade 1, has been teaching for 20 years, with 16 of them here at St. I. She has touched the lives of nearly 500 children and their families. She shared with me that she gets great joy from seeing the growth of her students from the beginning of the year to the end. She is also grateful for the parents who express their gratitude and appreciation so regularly.
A nice reflection shared by Mrs. Berling for all of our students, "May you grow in age and wisdom, and may you grow in love.” We are extremely grateful for these three talented and compassionate educators and the many years of service they have given to this community. We wish them the very best in their retirement. They have earned it!
Please join me in praying that this school year continues to be filled with wonder and awe for our students. May all of our students, parents, staff, alumni, and friends feel God’s loving presence now and always.
In Christ’s Peace,
Kevin Vance
Principal
