MRS. HEISEL'S HEADLINES
AUGUST 18, 2023
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is my honor and a pleasure to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year! I hope you all have had a relaxing and fun summer break. I am extremely proud to serve as the new principal of this amazing learning community, and welcome my new Assistant Principal, Mr. Matt Meyer.
Our maintenance staff has been busy all summer working hard to get our building ready. Rooms have been painted, some new doors are being installed and painted, floors have been stripped and waxed, and new furniture has been delivered. Thanks to our generous donors, our 5th grade classrooms received brand new furniture, including student and teacher desks, chairs, bookcases, and technology cabinets! Thank you so much!
Our dedicated teaching staff has also been working tirelessly to finalize classes and schedules, engage in professional learning opportunities, fine-tune instructional models, and update class routines and expectations, all with the goal of fostering academic success. We are all so excited to have the students back in the building and get this new year underway!
This year’s parish/school theme is “His Real Presence is in Us.” This is also reflected by our school t-shirt this year which reads, “Be His Real Presence.” Our pastor, Father Tom, chose this theme based upon the National Eucharistic Revival that is currently happening . It is a great reminder that we are a Eucharistic people. Jesus is truly present: Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in the Eucharist. When we take Him into us, we receive His real presence in the Eucharist and are transformed by Him.
We will once again focus on the Virtues in Practice program in grades K-8. The entire school studies the same virtue each month. Our goal is to grow closer to Jesus by imitating His life and virtues and living out our faith in our everyday lives. This year we will focus on the virtues of charity, friendship, courtesy, purity, fortitude, prudence, respect, forgiveness, and responsibility, while also learning about saints who are held up as models of these virtues.
On behalf of the staff and faculty, I want to thank you for choosing St. Ignatius as the school and parish for your family. We are excited about this upcoming school year and are honored that you trust us with the minds and hearts of your child(ren). We look forward to having our families as positive partners in this year’s journey! The St. Ignatius staff will continue to make a priority of working together to create a Christ-centered, caring, compassionate learning community, where all children can be successful. Join us in praying for a safe, successful, positive school year!
In Christ’s Peace,
Angie Heisel
Principal
ANNOUNCEMENTS AND IMPORTANT INFORMATION
ED CHOICE EXPANSION
As we have communicated, all Ohio students who are not receiving another state scholarship (ie, Peterson, Autism, etc), are eligible to receive the Ed Choice Expansion Scholarship. Please refer to the
Income Eligibility Requirements to see how much your family will be awarded.
IMPORTANT! It takes many hours to process the hundreds of applications we are receiving. In order for us to guarantee your St. Ignatius Ed Choice Expansion application will be processed and sent to the state before their deadline we MUST HAVE ALL APPLICATIONS TO MS. PATTY THOMAS BY FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 1.
In addition to the application, you must also give her a current utility bill that shows matching service and mailing address. You are welcome to email them or drop off hard copies.
Any applications received after September 1 will be processed, but there is no guarantee that they will make it to the Ohio Department of Education by their October deadline. This will delay processing and could possibly decrease the amount you are to receive. Thank you for your understanding and patience regarding all of the new changes to Ed Choice. Any questions, please reach out to Patty Thomas in our school office,
pthomas@saintischool.org, 513-389-3242.
TUITION PAYMENTS
Tuition statements were sent out earlier this month. If you anticipate that you will receive the full EdChoice Scholarship, no payment is due at this time. If you anticipate that you will receive a partial Ed Choice payment (or none at all), please begin to make tuition payments for the balance you anticipate to have. Any questions, please contact Barb Campbell in the parish office,
bcampbell@sainti.org, 513-661-6565.
TUITION ASSISTANCE
If you will not be receiving the EdChoice Scholarship (because your child is receiving another state scholarship, ie. Peterson, autism, etc,) (or you live outside of the state of Ohio), we highly encourage you to apply for tuition assistance. In order to do this, you must create an account and register through FACTS:
FACTS log in. Even if you have applied in the past, we encourage you to do so again, as we are finding ways to disperse money to our families who are not eligible for EdChoice this year. Any questions, please contact Barb Campbell in the parish office,
bcampbell@sainti.org, 513-661-6565.
