MRS. HEISEL'S HEADLINES
OCTOBER 12, 2023
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Just a gentle reminder that tomorrow, Friday, October 13, school is closed for our staff to participate in School of Faith, a religious professional development program. This program provides time for prayer, study, and reflection on our Catholic Faith.
I want to THANK all of you for a SUPER SUCCESSFUL 365 Raffle! We not only hit our goals but exceeded them! At last count, we have sold over $145,000 worth of raffle tickets. Because of this, students have earned BOTH off days! That means NO SCHOOL the day after Halloween, Wednesday, November 1, AND the day after the Super Bowl, Monday, February 12! The proceeds of the raffle enable us to keep tuition at an affordable rate each year. We are so grateful for the tremendous support of this fundraiser that benefits all 1,164 students.
In addition, tickets were sold in every one of our 50 states! We will have an extra out-of-uniform day to celebrate that milestone (date TBD). And finally, as an extra, added bonus and thank you, ALL students may participate in the pajama incentive on Monday and receive a donut! I am overwhelmed (although not surprised!) by the support and effort of our families.
I would be remiss if I did not extend a HUGE heartfelt THANK YOU to our 365 Raffle crew, Christina Grotkin, Chrissy Davis, and Stephanie Beck! These ladies work so hard, put so much time into the raffle, and are just all-around amazing! A huge shout out to Julie Doerger as well, as she writes ALL the winning checks every month. Thank you ladies for all you do!
Please keep our eighth graders in your prayers as they travel to Washington, DC, next week. On Tuesday morning, the Class of 2024 will travel to DC to visit various national monuments, attend Mass at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, tour the Capitol, and discover new things at the many Smithsonian museums. We wish them the best weather and safe travels.
I continue to pray for the happiness, good health, and success of all our families. You are all such a blessing to me and this community.
In Christ’s Peace,
Angie Heisel
Principal
EDCHOICE UPDATE
Many families' applications have already been accepted, but if yours hasn't yet, please do not panic. We do not fully understand ODE's system of accepting them, but please know that if you have submitted your application to school and done your income verification, yours is in process.
If your child's application has been accepted, you will receive an acceptance letter in the mail. This form MUST be filled out and returned to Patty Thomas in the school office via email or the original form. ODE issues checks every month based on the previous month's attendance and sends them to school. If you do not want to come in every month to endorse your check, you MUST sign a waiver authorizing St. Ignatius to deposit the check. This is a very involved process, and you may continue to receive tuition statements until the tuition is paid in full, which will not be until June 2024. If your child received a full tuition scholarship, you can disregard these statements. If you scholarship does not cover full tuition, you can continue to make payments.
If you have any questions about the status of your application, you can check your OH/ID account. Ask Mr. Meyer if you have any questions.
UNIFORM GUIDELINE UPDATE
The School Committee made some slight changes to uniform guidelines that did not get printed in the 23-24 handbook. The updated policy can be found here. One of the more notable changes is that girls may wear fingernail polish. I encourage you to read over the uniform policy again and go over it with your child. I would especially encourage to you read over the policies on sock color, acceptable shoes, and skirt length.
SGO (SCHOLARSHIP GRANTING ORGANIZATIONS)
Catholic School Supporters may be eligible for an Ohio tax credit!

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS SHIRTS
Just a friendly reminder that anyone who purchased a PTO Breast Cancer Awareness shirt through the Spirit Shop may wear it with uniform bottoms on the designated days this month. The t-shirt may replace the school polo shirt.
There are two more days the shirt can be worn:
Friday, October 20, and Friday, October 27 (which is also the monthly Spirit Day for all, with proceeds going to Pink Ribbon Good)
