MRS. HEISEL'S HEADLINES
OCTOBER 20, 2023
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are halfway through the first trimester, and progress reports were sent out earlier this week for grades 4-8. It has been a great start and we are so honored that you have chosen St. Ignatius as the school to educate the mind, heart, and spirit of your child.
Please continue to keep our 8th graders and their chaperones in your prayers as they are currently on their way back from Washington, DC. They have had a great week, filled with learning and lots of fun! I have been told that while attending Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the Eucharistic distributor commented that this was the most reverent group she has had for as long as she can remember! A hotel guest complimented them on their behavior as well. I am so proud of our Wildcats!!
I have some 365 Raffle stats to share with you:

IMPORTANT EDCHOICE UPDATE
PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY!
At this point, we have over 460 students who are in the "Accepted/Awarded/Eligible" statuses. If your child has been "Accepted" you should have received an acceptance form from ODE (EdChoice), and submitted it to school. EdChoice issues a tuition check every month for each child after attendance is taken for the previous month. These checks must be endorsed by you, or you can sign and send the attached waiver so that you do not need to come in.
If your child is in the "Awarded" or "Eligible" status, that means that the application and income verification has all been reviewed, and acceptance will be coming shortly. Please keep in mind that your monthly statement may or may not accurately reflect your true balance because of the timing of the checks arriving, and statements going home. If your child has been awarded the full tuition amount, you can disregard these statements. If your scholarship does not cover the full amount, you are responsible for the balance.
We also have almost 300 applications that are still in the "Under Review" status, even though some of them were submitted as early as mid-July. When we look at the comments on many of these applications, it states "The application the school entered appears complete, but the application cannot move to Eligible unless the parent completes the Income Process." We highly recommend that parents log in to their ODE accounts to see the status, or if more information is needed to finish the process.
In addition to the previous statuses, there are almost 300 applications that are in the "Submitted" status, which means that they have not been reviewed yet. These applications were submitted in late August through mid October.
Important Lane Closure Information
All next week, North Bend Road will be down to ONE LANE between Monfort Heights Drive and Edgewood Drive.
HALLOWEEN INFORMATION
Students are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes for our Halloween parade on Tuesday, October 31. Students should wear orange or black that day, and bring their costume to change into before the parade and parties begin. We promote creative costumes that promote a healthy imagination and fun. Costumes should not be bloody, gory, or scary. For safety reasons, please no Halloween masks, blow-up costumes (these are very hard for the children to walk in during the parade), weapons, lookalikes, or anything that could be used as a weapon. All students must wear appropriate shoes that are secure and safe.
Our parade will be outside and will start at 1:45pm, and parents and friends are invited to watch. The path will be from the school office in front of church, around the rectory and Loyola Hall, through the playground to the Boomer Road doors. Classroom parties will begin after the parade.
