Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are at the end of October, which means Halloween is right around the corner! We will celebrate Halloween here at school next week on Tuesday, October 31. I know the students are excited to find out what the staff theme will be this year! I don’t think they’ll be disappointed!!
The Halloween parade is scheduled to begin at 1:45pm. Friends and family can gather outside the school building and around church to watch the parade. Unfortunately, if it is raining, we will have to cancel the parade. Please watch for an email announcing a cancellation, if warranted. Please see more information below about costume and out of uniform expectations for that day.
As you know, we received the 365 Raffle incentive day off for November 1. Being that Tuesday is Halloween (and will be a little chaotic) and Wednesday is an off day, the students will not have an opportunity to attend Mass next week during school. Wednesday, November 1, All Saint’s Day, is a Holy Day of Obligation, and I invite you to celebrate Mass with your child(ren) that day. The Mass schedule is listed under Upcoming Events.
I continue to pray for the happiness, good health, and success of all our families. You are all such a blessing to me and this community.

HALLOWEEN INFORMATION
Students are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes for our Halloween parade on Tuesday, October 31. Students should wear orange or black that day, and bring their costume to change into before the parade and parties begin. We promote creative costumes that promote a healthy imagination and fun. Costumes should not be bloody, gory, or scary. For safety reasons, please no Halloween masks, blow-up costumes (these are very hard for the children to walk in during the parade), weapons, lookalikes, or anything that could be used as a weapon. All students must wear appropriate shoes that are secure and safe.
Our parade will be outside and will start at 1:45pm, and parents and friends are invited to watch. The path will be from the school office in front of church, around the rectory and Loyola Hall, through the playground to the Boomer Road doors. Classroom parties will begin after the parade.

We will be collecting gently used toys (cleaned and in good condition) for their annual toy and clothing sale in December.
Wednesday, November 15, Annual New Toy Drive, McCreary County, Kentucky
Families are invited to purchase a NEW toy ($20 or less) for those less fortunate. NEW toys, for ages 1-12, will be delivered to Whitley City, Kentucky, for the Children’s Christmas Party in December. All new toys should be taken to the cafeteria on the morning of November 15.

Our November Spirit Day Outreach (prayers and dollar donation) will also go to the people of McCreary County. Our dollar donations will be used to buy Kroger gift cards, which, along with the NEW toys, will be taken to them.

PICTURE RETAKE DAY
MONDAY, OCTOBER 30
Picture re-takes will take place on Monday, October 30, for students who were absent on the original picture day(s) or those wanting a retake. Those with retakes should bring should bring their original package AND a new order form. The original package will be replaced with the new picture being taken.

FLOWER FUNDRAISER STARTS NOVEMBER 1
The flower sale fundraiser for our eighth grade DC Trip kicks off very soon! Our official start date is November 1. You will receive a catalog as well as an information sheet through school (so check those backpacks!) on Monday, October 30. The sales will be online only, but you can have the catalog for reference! There is some information regarding the sale on our seventh grade Facebook page. You will also be receiving emails directly from Fortmeyer and Sons company that will give you instructions on how to sell for your own childs’ specific fundraiser!
Those emails should come out on November 1 so keep an eye out for that!

DAD'S WEEK IN CAFE

May God bless you and your loved ones for your generosity in donating so many coats, hats, gloves, and other winter wear! They will be available throughout Hamilton County for those in need. There is a good feeling in passing on clothes that we no longer use even though it is difficult to part with some items that we love.

LET'S BUILD A CHURCH TOGETHER
AT ST. PETER UPENDO!
We are launching our Buy-A-Block Campaign, which is intended to aid in the cost of building a new St. Peter Upendo Church in Molo, Kenya, our Mission Parish. We are asking you to buy concrete blocks at $1 each to help build a new church. Purchasing $20 blocks or more will ensure that your family name will be engraved on a plaque in the new St Peter Upendo church foyer.
Checks can be made payable to St. Ignatius Church with “Buy-A-Block” in the memo field. We will also be having a collection weekend on October 28 and 29 at the doors of church. Contact upendo@sainti.org for questions or if you would like to help.

Paco Patag is a homeschool graduate and an alumnus of Cincinnati State Community College, the University of Cincinnati, and the Saint John Leadership Institute. He presently serves as the Associate Director of Young Adult Evangelization for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, with a passionate focus on empowering young adults to respond to their unique and unrepeatable vocation in and through the local Church. Along with books and music, Paco always enjoys conversations at the intersection of mission, vocation, entrepreneurship, and living an integrated life, especially around a fire or on a good hike.
