MRS. HEISEL'S HEADLINES

APRIL 26, 2024

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I’d like to start off by recognizing our front office assistants as we celebrated them this week for Administrative Professional’s Day. We are so grateful for them and all of the things they do to keep our school running smoothly! Thank you, Mrs. Cross, Mrs. McErlane-Miller (Mrs. M&M), Ms. Thomas, Mrs. Alteneau, and Mrs. Floyd for all you do!

We are so happy for our second graders in Mrs. Crowley and Miss Eichhold's rooms who will receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist this weekend. We welcome them all to the table of our Lord and celebrate with them and their families during this special time.

We are very close to being ready to roll out our FACTS Management System for 24-25 tuition accounts. Details on how to set up accounts will be coming out very soon. We are also looking to streamline how we communicate information to families. We are looking into a program called Parent Square which would be an all-encompassing program that would allow us to post information (like the Wildcat Wire), send alerts (snow days, out-of-uniform days, etc.), and even send messages to specific groups (bus riders, drama club, etc.) all with the same program. We are still in the test phase, although some of you may have received an email with some of the postings I have tested. We didn’t believe that would happen, as we were in test mode. There is nothing for you to do with it right now, we are still testing it and working out the kinks! I just wanted to mention it in case you saw the email and were wondering what it was!

Lastly, I want to mention that our students started our spring assessment, MAP testing this week. MAP will take the place of the previous IOWA Testing we did in the spring. The MAP window is open for a couple of weeks and it will take that long to get all students tested. After everyone takes their assessments, you will be able to view parent reports. More information to come on that soon!

Quick Thinking Heroes!

We are incredibly thankful for students CJ Schmid and Hudson Ronnebaum who immediately jumped into action in the cafeteria when their friend was choking!

Their quick thinking helped save their friend by alerting Mrs. Reynolds. She knew exactly what to do and used the Heimlich maneuver.

A big thank you to all those in the cafeteria at the time - all students were respectful and quieted down immediately which kept things calm and made it easier to handle the emergency.

We are so proud of our students for coming together and doing what's right! You are what makes St. Ignatius so special!

TUITION REFUND UPDATE

We understand that some families made tuition payments before EdChoice was finalized. Some refunds have already been issued. The parish office will issue the remaining refunds after all state EdChoice checks have been received. We expect to have these by the end of June.Thanks for your patience and grace as we continue to work diligently through this very complicated and labor intensive process!

Financial Aid Opportunities for students K-8 who have a remaining tuition balance and are registered St. Ignatius parishioners:
● The Loyola Scholarship:

A grant for St. Ignatius parishioners, up to $800 per child, available to those who apply and meet the criteria for being a St. Ignatius parishioner. Please print the application and return to the school office by July 12, 2024. Loyola Scholarship Application

● St. Ignatius Tuition Assistance:

These funds are available by applying through our tuition assistance portal through FACTS Management, https://online.factsmgt.com/grant-aid/inst/3GVVG/landing-page. Funds are made available by generous donors and through such activities as the Golf Outing, the iWalk, and donations through the SGO (Scholarship Granting Organization). Applications should be completed by July 12, 2024.

CHILD FORGET SOMETHING?

If your child has forgotten something and you need to bring it to them at school, we ask you to help out the busy office staff. Please put their name on it, put it on the table outside the school office, and email their teacher so they can come down and retrieve it. If it is something that is time-sensitive or very important, we will try our best and get it to them or call them down as soon as we can. We are just trying to avoid as many interruptions in the classroom as we can.

Please come check out the uniform closet before you shop! There are soooo many pairs of shorts, polos, pants, etc! They are organized by size, and there is even a section for preschool uniform sizes. Uniform closet is located at school near the library.

SUMMER ROWING CAMPS WITH CINCINNATI JUNIOR ROWING CLUB

With the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics just around the corner, come down to the Cincinnati Junior Rowing Club to try your hand at an Olympic sport! CJRC's Summer Camps are open to all boys and girls age 12-15 in the Greater Cincinnati area. No experience is needed to participate in the camps.

The parish would like to invite all current and active Altar Servers (grades 5-8th) to a pizza party! We would like to celebrate and thank our servers for their dedication and service to this important ministry. As a token of our appreciation, we will have a pizza lunch for the students, on Thursday, May 2 in Loyola Hall.
