MRS. HEISEL'S HEADLINES

Dear Parents and Guardians,

With only a few weeks left in the 23-24 school year, we have so many fun activities planned for our students including the Health and Safety Fair, Olympic Day, and IWalk just to name a few! This week we celebrated Art Week with many opportunities to explore the visual and performing arts. Special thanks to all our staff members who made it so special and brought in many cool performers, including a wood-turner, high school bands, and our very own St. Ignatius band!

Our eighth graders will start their end-of-the-year activities next week. In the next couple of weeks, this remarkable group of young men and women will participate in a day-long service project, host the Carnival for the rest of the students, have their version of field day, participate in a day of prayer and reflection while they are on a retreat, and celebrate their successes at the annual B&B Riverboat Boat Trip. We will culminate their year on May 29 with Graduation. I look forward to watching them wind down their St. Ignatius career with prayer, fun, and friendship, and am excited to celebrate with them!

I would like to congratulate our pastor, Fr. Tom Mannebach, who is celebrating 25 years in the priesthood! We are so blessed by his spiritual leadership and guidance and we rejoice with him in his celebration! Congratulations, Fr. Tom!!

On behalf of the staff, I would like to wish all of our mothers a very happy and relaxing Mother’s Day this weekend. We are grateful for everything you do for your child/ren and the many sacrifices you make. Also, thank you for being a contributing member of the school and parish community. May you always feel God’s presence in your life!

May all of our students, parents, staff, alumni, and friends feel God’s loving presence now and always.

A huge THANK YOU for supporting St. Ignatius through the Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). Over $82,00 was raised by more than 120 individuals to support tuition assistance for the 2023 tax year. Your generosity places us as one of the top three elementary schools receiving the most contributions. Our students are blessed by generous supporters who value Catholic education.

TUITION REFUND UPDATE

We understand that some families made tuition payments before EdChoice was finalized. Some refunds have already been issued. The parish office will issue the remaining refunds after all state EdChoice checks have been received. We expect to have these by the end of June.Thanks for your patience and grace as we continue to work diligently through this very complicated and labor intensive process!

A grant for St. Ignatius parishioners, up to $800 per child, available to those who apply and meet the criteria for being a St. Ignatius parishioner. Please print the application and return to the school office by July 12, 2024. Loyola Scholarship Application

● St. Ignatius Tuition Assistance:

These funds are available by applying through our tuition assistance portal through FACTS Management, https://online.factsmgt.com/grant-aid/inst/3GVVG/landing-page. Funds are made available by generous donors and through such activities as the Golf Outing, the iWalk, and donations through the SGO (Scholarship Granting Organization). Applications should be completed by July 12, 2024.

ATTENTION 5th, 6th, AND 7th GRADE PARENTS!

St. Ignatius is looking for host families for this fall's French exchange program. Tentative dates are October 8-17, but they are subject to change. Students who host a French student will have priority when we select students to go to France in the spring. Please see the attached flyer for more information, and if you have questions, reach out to Krystine Auletto at kauletto@saintignatius.org.

CHILD FORGET SOMETHING?

If your child has forgotten something and you need to bring it to them at school, we ask you to help out the busy office staff. Please put their name on it, put it on the table outside the school office, and email their teacher so they can come down and retrieve it. If it is something that is time-sensitive or very important, we will try our best and get it to them or call them down as soon as we can. We are just trying to avoid as many interruptions in the classroom as we can.

VARIOUS SCHOOL FEES AND HELD REPORT CARDS

Any funds remaining in a student's lunch and Before/After School accounts at the end of this school year will carry over to next school year. If a student is graduating, their remaining funds will be transferred to a younger sibling or returned in the form of a check.

In order to receive final report cards and class placements for next year, all cafeteria, Before/After School, and all other school fees must be paid. The 8th grade is required to be paid in full by Monday, May 20. Grades Pre-K through 7th must be paid in full by Friday, May 24.

2024 8th GRADE CARNIVAL!

This year the school Carnival will be held on Thursday, May 16, with a rain date of Friday, May 17. Ticket orders are again offered online and through the form attached to this Wire. Please use the QR code to purchase Carnival game tickets, basket raffle and snack tickets online. Or if you prefer, you can return the paper version and send in on one of the turn in dates listed. If you are having trouble with the QR code, you can go to https://stignatiuscincy.wufoo.com/forms/2024-eighth-grade-carnival/ for the online order form.

The Carnival will be held outside again this year on the Boomer Road side by the gym. Parents and families are welcome to attend during their child’s time. Game and snack ticket orders will be filled on the turn in dates and will be given to your child's homeroom teacher for distribution on the day of the carnival. Basket winners will be announced on the day before the carnival.

We are excited to add this year items from Anything Airbrush Plus. They offer customized airbrushed items, and they created some Wildcat designs just for us. TICKET ORDER DEADLINE:
All online and paper purchases MUST BE turned in to school by Tuesday, May 14.

We will not be able to sell tickets on the day of the carnival, so please get your order in by Tuesday, May 14.

Tickets may be purchased anytime and will be counted and filled on the following dates: May 7, May 9, and May 14

BONUS: Turn in your ticket request by Thursday, May 9, and you will be entered to win 40 tickets to use at the carnival. Winner will be announced on Monday, May 13.

OLYMPIC DAY 2024
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 5
St. Ignatius Olympic Day is back, and we are excited to have over 90 volunteer spots for parents to join in this fun day! Please review important information below.

2. Please park in the parking lot in FRONT of church.
3. Opening ceremonies begin at 9:00am in the courtyard. Closing ceremonies are at 2:30pm on the hill near the concession stand.
4. Dress code: Students should wear I-walk shirt. Shorts should be appropriate in length and fit.
5. Put sunscreen on your child’s faces, necks, and arms. They will be outside all day!

6. Please make sure names are on all water bottles.
7. Dismissal: If a student will be leaving with a parent prior to normal 3:30pm dismissal, a note must be sent to the homeroom teacher on the DAY BEFORE Olympic Day.
8. All students MUST have a bag lunch! DRINKS WILL BE PROVIDED!
9. The concession stand will serve as the Olympic Day headquarters.
10. Pray for sunshine! Come out and help cheer for the kids!

Come join our last Adult Faith Formation speaker series on Thursday, May 16 at 7:00pm in Loyola Hall for our Mosaic presentation given by Matthew Zurcher, S.J. Matthew Zurcher, S.J. is a Jesuit in formation currently serving at Xavier University as a campus minister and adjunct professor of philosophy. Matthew’s past jobs include choral and orchestral conductor, live-in halfway house manager, death row chaplain, high school English teacher, and nurse’s aide. He holds a Bachelor of Humanities and Arts from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Arts in social philosophy from Loyola University Chicago. He is a connoisseur of ice cream and Phish. THE BOOK BOOTH IS BACK AT IGGYFEST 2024!

A container is available in the parish office lobby for donations of gently used books. All types of books are needed! Collection events will be held on Wednesdays and Sundays from May through August. SEEKING GENTLY USED OR NEW BIKES FOR THE NORTH FAIRMOUNT COMMUNITY CENTER
The North Fairmount Community Center is asking for donations of any size of new and gently used boy and girl bikes. In the Villages of Roll Hill there are over 700 children between the ages of 6-12, and very few of these children have a bike. If you happen to have a bike around the house no longer in use and in good condition, please consider donating it to the Villages of Roll Hill Community Center. They will pick up and repair tires as needed.
