MR. VANCE'S NEWS TO USE THIS WEEK
OCTOBER 8, 2020
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As a Catholic school, we have the beautiful opportunity and responsibility to integrate knowledge and faith in order to deepen our relationship with Christ. The two-fold mission of Catholic schools is to provide an education that is rigorous in academics and, more importantly, to provide the experiences that will nurture children and their families in their quest to meet, know, love and serve Jesus Christ. St. Ignatius School takes this responsibility even further with a curriculum that focuses on developing the whole child: spiritually, cognitively, social-emotionally, physically, and artistically.
The Scriptures encourage us to “come away” and spend quiet time before the Lord, so beginning today students will begin participating in Eucharistic Adoration. This time of prayer and adoration provides the opportunity for our students and staff to focus on the main reason of our school which is our relationship with Jesus. Eucharistic adoration is the practice of praying before Jesus in the form of the Eucharistic host. One grade level will attend this sacred devotion each week in church. Students will be led through a guided reflection, where a staff member provides a reflection for the students for their prayerful contemplation in front of the Eucharist, which, we as Catholics believe is the Real Presence of Christ. The purpose of Eucharistic Adoration is to draw us more deeply into the mystery of Christ's presence in the Holy Eucharist. There is a real grace that comes from giving of ourselves and our time as we sit in contemplation with Jesus.
“Let the children come to me and do not hinder them;
for to such belong the Kingdom of Heaven.” (Matthew 19:14)
